Meet Daisy, our fifth El Tesoro camper of the week for 2016!

Daisy doesn’t like when camp ends, but this year she has something to look forward to at the closing ceremony – she’s getting her walking staff. When campers reach their three-year tenure mark at El Tesoro, they are given a walking staff with their name branded into the end. Each year, campers add their activity discs and beads to their staff as a reflection of everything they’ve learned and accomplished at camp.

“It’s something I can be proud of. It makes me feel special, and it’s like I get to take part of camp home with me,” Daisy said.

Daisy was only six-years-old when she came to camp for the first time, but her older sister had been before and helped ease her nerves.

“I think younger kids should come to camp because when you’re young you aren’t afraid to try things,” Daisy said. “Plus, if you like it when you’re young, that gives you more time to keep coming back.”

This year, Daisy selected challenge course, dance and drama as her three activities – which she loves equally. In fact, Daisy can’t think of anything about camp that she doesn’t love. A few things come to her mind as ‘extra favorites’, like the food, the new cabins and the friends she makes.

Needless to say, Daisy already can’t wait to come back to camp next year!
