Meet Abigail, our fourth El Tesoro camper of the week for 2016!

Abigail heard about El Tesoro after her friend Trinity got back from a week at camp, and after six years of convincing, Abigail decided to attend herself. As a first year camper, Abigail was excited and nervous about what to expect at an overnight camp. After her first night, she knew she had made the right decision to come to camp.

After debating the long list of activities, Abigail picked arts and crafts, challenge course and junior lifeguard.

“My favorite is the junior lifeguard,” Abigail said. “The lifeguards are really sweet and a lot of fun to be around.”

While she loves the morning activities, it’s the moments of unstructured alone time with her cabin that she enjoys the most. When Abigail leaves, she said it will be the long talks in the cabin, the funny jokes made and the meal times that she will remember – and miss – the most.

“If I could go back, I would have come to camp sooner. I would tell myself that it’s actually a lot of fun, the people are really nice, the counselors actually talk to you and you aren’t judged by anyone here.”

To other campers her age, Abigail says to not worry about leaving your phone at home. As a self-proclaimed phone-lover, she admits the break from technology has been a great experience.
