As summer gives its last hurrah and students head back to school, Afterschool Program Director Venikwa Merriman reflects on the fantastic experiences that campers had at Camp Fire day camps.
Campers had an incredible time exploring the outdoors, visiting museums, and learning new things this year. They had a blast at Russell Farm Art Center in Burleson, where they learned everything from gardening to caring for a donkey. They also explored the Kimbell Art Museum, where they were introduced to various art and sculptures.
Each week of summer camp was centered around different themes, allowing campers to learn and build through hands-on activities. For example, one week focused on the Nile River, and campers had a blast constructing their miniature versions of the river.
At Camp Fire, our school-based summer day camps aim to provide a fun and engaging environment where our campers can learn and grow. We are thrilled to have partnered with vendors such as Snapology, Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD), and Perot Museum of Nature and Science to offer a wide range of STEAM enrichment activities. These partnerships have allowed us to provide our campers with experiences they will remember forever.
As we look ahead to the fall, we are excited to continue building relationships with our vendors and enhancing our focus on STEAM enrichment activities. Our afterschool programs will provide the perfect opportunity to do just that. We are committed to providing our students with the best possible learning experiences, and we believe that our partnerships with these incredible vendors will help us achieve that goal.
Campers had the opportunity to explore, learn, and have fun in a safe and supportive environment this summer. We are so grateful to have had such a fantastic season, and we can’t wait to see what future summers hold. Thank you to our campers, parents, and partners for making summer ’23 one to remember!
