August 30, 2016 (Fort Worth, Texas) – Step away from the sidelines and step onto the field, abandon carpool lines for zip lines, let the grass go uncut and instead cut-up with your kids, start an art project that doesn’t require a trip to the craft store, only a stroll down a wooded trail. This fall, gather up family and friends for a weekend of adventure at Camp Fire Camp El Tesoro. Family Camping Weekend, October 14 – 16, is stacked with activities and nature-based exploration opportunities that will add more than a few pages to your mental scrapbook filled with memories made to last.

Camp Fire provides all meals, lodging and programming for the weekend. Friends and families can choose to stay in newly built cabins together to keep the fun going all weekend long. This weekend experience is exciting for campers of all ages, so whether you’re introducing your children to camp for the first time or looking to enjoy the wonder of camp as an adult, Family Camping Weekend has a place for you. Activities for the weekend include:

  • Rappelling tower, climbing wall and zip line
  • Canoeing & kayaking
  • Nature studies
  • Archery
  • Art projects for families
  • Special Saturday pre-K activities

“Family Camp weekend is a welcoming environment that gives families a choice in how they want to connect with one another, create new memories and explore and learn in nature – together,” Christina Middlebrook, vice president of outdoor division said. “By providing meals, lodging and activities we strive to create an all-inclusive camping retreat for families at all comfort levels to have the camping adventure that is perfect for them and find a ‘camp home’ at El Tesoro.”

Camp El Tesoro is situated on 223-acres where the Brazos River and Fall Creek meet, just 45 minutes south of downtown Fort Worth. The camp has welcomed more than four generations of campers over 80 years, and recently completed a $10.9 million capital campaign which supported the upgrade and renovation of facilities.
