October 18, 2016 (Fort Worth, TX) – Camp Fire First Texas will present the 32nd annual An Artists’ Christmas gala and auction on November 12 at the Fort Worth Zoo. The event is one of the original art gala fundraisers, and is the premier art auction in North Texas. An Artists’ Christmas features local and regional artists’ work that is available for purchase via silent auction.

The local art community has generously supported this event over its long history by donating works of art so that all the auction proceeds will support Camp Fire programs. Since 1984, An Artists’ Christmas has contributed more than $3.8 million to support Camp Fire programs, helping youth in North Texas find their spark, lift their voice and discover who they are.

Two local Granbury artists, Kathleen Bales and Sheri Jones, will each have pieces featured.

“I choose to donate an original art piece to the Camp Fire organization. I believe in the council’s goals to promote special programs to benefit the youth of the area. I am honored to be a participating artist in the wonderful event and organization,” Sheri Jones said.

This year, more than 170 pieces were submitted for the juried exhibition.  Of those, 83 will be featured at An Artists’ Christmas, with mediums ranging from photography, oil, glass, metal, bronze and ceramics. All of the artists’ work is featured on Camp Fire’s Facebook page for pre-bidding, or a ‘buy now’ option.

“Camp Fire has been a part of my life since I was a Bluebird 70 years ago. Then it was part of our five girls, and my husband, once the girls were old enough to be Bluebirds, Camp Fire and then Horizon girls,” Kathleen Bales said. “My husband helped with the club campouts and later helped get camp El Tesoro ready for summer camping. We have seen the marvelous things Camp Fire teaches young boys and girls and like to promote its many programs. I love art and am happy to contribute one of my paintings to help further Camp Fire First Texas.  Camp El Tesoro is here in the Granbury area and has an outstanding summer camping program for all children, but they can always use money for camperships.”

While art is the main attraction, this exciting evening also features a seated dinner, dancing, luxury packages and prizes and much more. The event provides an opportunity for patrons to socialize and expand their collection all while supporting our community’s youth.
