Camp Fire First Texas (CFFT) has hired former NFL player, Alric Arnett, as their Teens in Action program director.

Arnett, who relocated to Frisco from his hometown of Belle Glade, Florida, comes to Camp Fire with an extensive background in athlete development and volunteerism. Arnett attended West Virginia University, where he played football and consistently volunteered for organizations in his community, including the Special Olympics. After receiving his degree, Arnett dedicated three years to playing professional football for the Orlando Predators and the Calgary Stampeders. In 2010 he played for the off-season and practice squad of the National Football League (NFL) Denver Broncos and Detroit Lions.  Through other career opportunities, he became a behavioral and academic coach for the Department of Safe Schools, and after seven years was ready to pursue a new challenge.

Arnett’s primary goal is to turn the Teens in Action program into a pillar of the student’s life. “I love to assist the youth we serve daily. Helping them identify their purpose or interests motivates me to continue showing up,” said Arnett.

As program director, Arnett aims to bring a new light to the Camp Fire Teens in Action program and demonstrate that this is a safe environment for the youth to visit and create long-lasting mentor relationships. Teens in Action provides year-round support to help high-school students stay actively engaged in school, graduate, and prepare for a promising future. The program combines small group meetings, field trips, community volunteering, and mentoring to promote commitment and inspire a vision for the future.

“We are very excited to welcome Alric to our team,” said Lauren Richard, Camp Fire First Texas President/CEO. “ He displays all aspects of what it takes to be a leader for our youth, and we are looking forward to seeing how the Teens in Action program grows with him alongside us.”

Camp Fire Teens in Action boosts confidence, builds self-esteem and develops leadership skills. Youth are encouraged to reach for their dreams despite life’s circumstances, and ultimately to become adults who build society and give back to the community.
