Sara Mitchell is the associate marketing director at Camp Fire First Texas. She began her Camp Fire adventure as a Blue Bird in 3rd grade and earned her WoHeLo Medallion as a teen member. She joined the professional staff in 2007 and has served as the communications coordinator and brand manager. She is responsible for strategic direction and oversight with direct development and implementation of marketing campaigns, graphic design, website maintenance, photography, digital communications and the production of Camp Fire materials and merchandise.
Before coming to Camp Fire, Sara served as the assistant marketing director for Southwest Festivals which produces Scarborough Renaissance Festival and SCREAMS Halloween Theme Park. She currently serves as business manager for Southern Star Aviation.
Sara enjoys seeing children participate in and learn to love the same programs she was involved in as a child. She is a 3rd generation El Tesoro camper who can’t wait for her children to attend camp. Read more about her experiences as an alum and how she’s helping Camp Fire evolve.
She is active in the Greater Fort Worth Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America where she was honored as an Award of Excellence recipient in 2015. Under her leadership, Camp Fire First Texas was awarded American Camp Association Southwest Camp Conference’s 2022 Best Camp Brochure; and Tarleton State University’s 2015 Texas Social Media Research Institute Award – Nonprofit. Sara is also a member of the Waxahachie Rebekah Lodge, a fraternal service organization. She studied business at Navarro College.
Sara lives in Waxahachie with her husband and two children who have attended the Camp Fire Child Development Center, Diamond Hill Station Day Camp, and Camp El Tesoro.
