Session 1 - Mentors: Who We Are & What We Do
Explore the mentor role: Coaching through the lens of a mentor, recognize the needs of adult learners, characteristics of a mentor, identify teachers’ beliefs and developmental stages, and understand the significance of relationship building.

Session 2 - DAP: Infants, Toddlers, Pre-K
Review the importance of developmentally appropriate practices and understand the purpose and rationale for them. Explore the Texas Infant/Toddler and Three’s Early Learning Guidelines as well as the Texas Pre-Kindergarten Guidelines and identify the correlations between DAP and state guidelines.

Session 4 - Strength-Based Coaching
Learn how to focus the mentoring visitson teacher strengths and facilitate lasting change in instructional practices with the Gradual Release of Responsibility. Participants will explore strength- based questioning and coaching strategies and recognize strategies that facilitate instructional change.

Session 5 - Classroom Visits with Focused Observations
Preparing for a classroom visit is a keyelement of a mentoring role. This session will focus on how to prepare coaching conversations and how to make the most ofobservations by learning the various types of observation and their purposes and apply a mentoring lens.

Session 6 - Reflection
Asking the right questions can guide teachers to be reflective in their daily instruction including developing an action plan and closing the visit. We will explore the layers of reflection and key elements of reflective coaching conversations.
Full Course Fee: $500
Individual Class Fee: $80 each (no testing, 7 clock hours certificate)
Each class is 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. (1 hour lunch on your own)
