April 10, 2017 (Fort Worth, Texas) – The Camp Fire First Texas Child Development Center and Demonstration School has been selected as Fort Worth Magazine 2017 Best of Reader’s Pick for Child Care, marking the second consecutive year the center has been selected for this award.

Camp Fire believes parents are a child’s first teacher. As such, the center strives to build a family/preschool connection to create a climate where children thrive, feel loved and are safe.

“The Camp Fire CDC fulfills our commitment to the community in three key ways. First, we provide high-quality early education and care for children. Secondly, we want to connect and involve our families in the learning and progress taking place here. This is done by creating an open and inclusive environment and, finally, we provide high quality instruction and examples of how research-based practices are used through the demonstration school aspect of our program,” said Angela Junkin, Camp Fire Child Development Center Director.

Camp Fire uses state approved curriculum, research-based teaching practices, social-emotional connection development, and creative and developmentally appropriate classroom practices. As a demonstration school teachers, students, community advocates and other child care professionals visit the program to observe how research is put into practice in the classroom using the center’s observation booths.

Camp Fire CDC is licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services and implements early childhood Best Practices as suggested by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and is a Texas Rising Star 4-Star rated program.

The center also connects parents in our program, by maintaining a truly open environment where they are invited to visit often to observe using our observation booths or visiting and helping in the classroom.

“It is such a wonderful validation for our teachers and staff to receive this award because it was given by the families in the community who recognize the value of a program as unique as this one,” added Junkin.
