Since 1934, Camp Fire USA’s Camp El Tesoro has provided 223 acres of nature with programs and facilities for thousands of youth and adults to engage in, explore and experience life outdoors.
On March 1, 2008, the First Texas Council’s Board of Directors unanimously voted to secure funding to preserve El Tesoro so the camp can continue providing meaningful experiences that meet the outdoor educational and recreational needs of children, families and schools.
Camp Fire USA is embarking on a Capital Campaign to raise $10.3 million to renovate and upgrade camp facilities for year-round usage. This campaign is about preserving the camp we know as El Tesoro; providing enhanced facilities in a treasured outdoor setting; and ensuring that future generations experience nature through camping, discovering that El Tesoro is, indeed, “where kids discover their world”.
